After a few weeks of intense studio time, it was nice to get a little balance lately. The end of the school year brings a fair number of track meets,
orchestra concerts and school events into our already busy schedule, and this spring has been no exception. Added to that, I'd promised the girls a while back that we'd have a Game Night (complete with prizes!) with the neighbor gals, to help pare down the large collection of Etsy items I'd managed to accumulate these past two years. I mean seriously, as much as I love them, how many bars of soap and candles do I personally need?? LOL.
The big event took place Thursday evening - with some of the neighbor women and their teenage daughters, nine of us in all. Had a great time playing Wii bowling and Apples to Apples. I hadn't laughed so hard for two hours straight in a long time. Some wonderful moments (especially with my own three girls) that night. We're hoping to make a ritual out of this.
And this morning brought another event that should also provide a first in a series of great memories - Kristi (middle daughter) and I ran our first 5K together. I should say she ran, I jogged. It was her very first 5K and despite the weather - a chilly 40 degrees and 15-20 mph winds - she ran an amazing 28:55! I was so proud of her. My time
on the other hand . . . well, I let's just say I plead the 5th. I did jog 95% of it, but apparently it was a much slower pace than I realized. The good news? There's plenty of room for improvement for the next 5K in just 3 weeks. And there was another amazing byproduct of training for the event - without feeling as though I was trying, I managed to lose 3 pounds in the past two weeks :)
Hope you're all having a great weekend so far, and thanks again for all your kind words of support about the new artwork. I have two larger orders to attend to this weekend, and then hope to get back to more new stuff very soon. Well, I should say as soon as we discover the perfect Grad Dress for Kristi at Mall of America tomorrow!
